About Department

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established under Rajiv Gandhi Technical University, Bhopal with the approval of AICTE. The course offered by the department is a 4-year degree with an intake capacity of 60 students.
Since inception, a good number of laboratories were established. There were namely Basic Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Workshop,Engineering Drawing & Design comprising of modern equipment, apparates & machines. There after a few more laboratories were added like Fluid Mechanics, Thermal Engineering, Thoery of machines and Mechanics of material.

Department of Mechanical Engg. is well-equipped with state of the art modern laboratories to provide a superior level of practical education to its students. The laboratories are specifically designed with excellent facilities to meet the requirements of A.I.C.T.E. and University. Advanced equipments and hardware/softwares are added to the laboratories each year thus keeping them updated.

		Basic Mechanical Engg. Lab : Student of BE Ist year learn to perform experiment by using various models such as boiler IC Engine etc.
Thermal Engg. Lab : The students of Mechanical Eng. Perform & study about the working of different type of heat exchanger, boiler, Compressor etc.
		Machine design Lab : The student of Mechanical Eng. & BE Ist year practices of design of various M/c component & practice the Engg. Drawing.
Mechanics of Material Lab : The student of BE Mechanical perform the testing of strength of materials with the help of different testing M/c UTM hardness tester etc.

Future Of Mechanical Engineering

For better learning and practical exposure to the student of mechanical engineering department is continuously upgrading the facilities provided in the laboretories and library. The main objective is to:

• upgrade or install new software in CAD/CAM Lab for learning and practicing.
• upgrade the production laboretories/ Workshop with computer numerical control machines .
• increase the industry exposure to the students industrial tour & training program to be organized frequently
• Workshops & seminar are to be organized for better knowledge about latest technologies in Mechanical Engineering.
