TIT has launched an unprecedented effort to increase the number of students entering and graduating with special focus on recognizing the increasing demands of global competition. With such an eminence in the academic and curricular activities, the college is the most sought after engineering college by the applicants of both undergraduate and postgraduate engineering degree programmes in the state.

This institute is among the first to fill during counseling sessions. About 80% of the students who take admission in our institute are the top scorers in MPPET that enables to create a highly inquisitive and enthusiastic teaching and learning environment. Most of the students pursuing Post Graduate courses have good work experience in their respective fields. Students are admitted through various channels of admission; most notable of them are All India Entrance Examinations / State Level Entrance Examinations / other modes of admission as laid down by DTE Govt of M.P. At present (2008-09 onwards) PEPT is conducted at all India level with 50% quota for M.P. Domicile, SC, ST & OBC category and rest 50% is unreserved for Madhya Pradesh and All India candidates. This year for UG courses 90% admissions will be through PEPT merit list through on line counseling while remaining 10% institutional quota admissions will be through institute merit list as per the government rules. For PG courses, 100% admissions are through DTE on campus counselling on the basis of merit marks of qualifying degree / GATE score card. For Ph.D. courses, 100% admissions are through affiliating University as for rules.
