COMPUTER SCIENCE DEPARTMENT
Students in the Computer Science Department build a strong foundation in all aspects of computer technology including hardware, software, and system administration. The mission of the Computer Science Department is to provide each student with an equal opportunity to succeed by promoting intellectual growth, creativity, self-discipline, cultural and linguistic sensitivity, democratic responsibility, economic competence, and physical and mental health so that each student can achieve his or her maximum potential. The program prepares both Associate and Bachelor degree students for career opportunities in fields such as digital hardware design, software development (with an emphasis on system software), network administration, and system administration. The Computer Science Department provides a solid foundation in mathematics and science. This knowledge is reinforced with extensive hands-on experience in TIT lab facilities. The department has 17 very sophisticated labs equipped with 600 Wipro P-IV & IBM P-IV hyperthreading technology based computers and the latest version of Hardware & Software with multiple Terminal Units connected through LAN and ISDN Internet. The Computer Science Department have developed a highly respected program of teaching and research organized around three primary areas: computer systems, theory of computation and artificial intelligence. Department faculty represent some of the most distinguished individuals active in computing research and education. The curriculum is designed to take advantage of the breadth and quality of the research program, providing a rich basis for the development of new perspectives and research directions. Systems research focuses on software development environments, software testing, distributed computation, distributed and real-time databases, real-time systems, computer networks, performance evaluation, operating systems, parallel computation, computer architecture, programming languages and database and information systems.
