DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGYThe IT department provides leadership in long-range planning, implementation, and maintenance of information technology. The Information Technology Department continues to keep pace with the continuously changing world of computer and Internet-based technologies, providing an innovative mix of modern programs and courses. It oversees services in academic computing, telecommunication and networking, instructional and classroom technology, administrative computing, and technology trainings. The department labs supports multiple platforms such as PC, Mac, Linux and Palm PDA's with computer labs featuring high speed internet access. Wireless network and internet access (Wi-Fi) can also be found across the campus. We have a mix of academic staff and industry professionals who teach in our courses, with industry providing input into course development. Many of our teaching staff are IT professionals with years of hands-on experience. They are still involved with the industry and are up-to-date with recent IT advances. We are increasing our research profile with increasing numbers of staff conducting leading research to foster the development of emerging technologies that create change. This means our students gain experience with new technologies when they are developed. The mission of the Information Technology Department is to build a solid and comprehensive technology infrastructure, maintain an efficient and effective operation environment, and deliver high quality and timely services that supports University’s mission in teaching and learning, research, and community services.
