MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

The department has highly qualified and dedicated faculty members. The faculty in the department are actively engaged in teaching, research and service across a wide spectrum of technical areas within mechanical and industrial engineering. The department has laboratories namely Basic Mechanical Engg., Thermo Dynamics Lab, TOM, CAD Centre, Mechanical Instumentation & Measurement, Simulation & Modelling, Production Process, I.C. Engine, Fluid Mechanics & Turbo Machinery, HMT, RAC, KOM, Mechanics of Material, ECS-I & ECS-II, Automobiles, DOM. In addition to this the department has full-fledged workshop which is spread over many basic and advanced shops. The workshop of the department is fully equipped with modern machines, tools, equipments and measuring instruments.

State of art laboratories like Automation and Computer Integrated manufacturing have been established in the department which consist of Robots with linear slide base, conveyor belt, feeder, VSRS, CNC Lathe, CNC Milling, computers, PLC connected through LAN and the different Software’s.

The faculty members of the department have expertise in the areas, like Mechanism, Machine design, Material science, Automation, CAD/CAM, Industrial Engg, Ergonomics and Refrigeration & Air conditioning. Several faculty members are involved for consultancies in different organizations.

Current active research areas include Energy Systems with special emphasis on Off-shore Wind Energy and Energy Conservation, Mechanical Systems Design focusing on Sensors and Bioengineering, Information Engineering with concentration in Distributed Decision-making, Human-factored Engineering and Quality Management, Materials and Manufacturing with emphasis on Materials Processing and Intelligent Manufacturing, and Interfacial Fluid Mechanics with emphasis on Large Scale Simulation and Non-Newtonian Fluids.
